How To Pray and Audio Prayers
by Dr. August H. Wald, Ph. D.
Above all things, always remember that it is our unseen qualities that God values like love, purity and faith, which are invisible characteristics!
In prayer, A Clean Heart gets heard by God - the invisible that only He can see or measure.
Psalm 66:18 says: "If I regard Iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear me."
1 Peter 3:12 says: "The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His Ears are open to their prayers"
You can't know somebody unless you talk to them..... As you go on in the Christian life there will be lots of things you'll want to talk to GOD about - Problems, Struggles, Hopeless, or Just saying thanks for the good thing in your life. I suggest you start with few minutes a day in prayer - tell him whatever is on your mind and don't forget to leave space for him to reply. Start by focusing your thought on him, and then talk just as you would with a best friend. You don't need fancy or religious, Sounding words - Just be yourself. I say the "LORD'S prayer" is a good model. Analize those words and try putting it in your own words. People in the Bible prayed any time and everywhere. You can have a conversation with God anytime - Is that awesome or what? GOD is in charge and he has the POWER to change people and situations in Prayer. You have a "Hotline" to the creator of the universe. By applying these priciples in prayer, you will observe manifestations in real life situations.
Is praying on your knees necessary? The Bible clearly indicates prayer is acceptable in any body position i.e. arms opened out or on your belly. The keys to acceptable prayer are the clear sincere spirit of it, not the position of the body. Furthermore, what I believe Jesus meant by saying to "pray in Spirit, is to have the innocent hearth of a child and doing it secretly. "More importantly, it should be noted that telling others about your prayers and public displays of praying may discredit the validity of them in the eyes of God. Jesus clearly indicates the view of God, reflected in the Sermon on the Mount, regarding the acceptability of praying in secret! You may listen to applicable scriptures on this page by clicking on the links below. Always use wisdom and discretion when considering how you should pray. The most important things to learn about prayer are stated in the following scriptures:
Matthew 6:6-8: The words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount - "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." "If I speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong, a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and with full knowledge comprehend all mysteries; if I have faith enough to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give everything I have to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous, it does not put on airs, it is not snobbish, love is never rude, it is not self seeking, it is not prone to anger, neither does it brood over injuries, love does not rejoice in what is wrong, but rejoices with the truth. There is no limit to loves forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure, love never fails. Prophecies will cease, tongues will be silent, knowledge will pass away, our knowledge is imperfect, and our prophesying is imperfect. When the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When I was a child I spake as a child, I thought as a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish things aside. Now we see indistinctly as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. My knowledge is imperfect now, then I shall know even as I am known. There are in the end three things that last; faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love." - II Corinthians, Bible Psalm 42:8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me- a prayer to the God of my life.
